As we join the global community in commemorating the International Day to End Obstetric Fistula 2024, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to supporting national partners in eliminating this preventable injury. Our efforts focus on raising awareness of positive maternity practices such as early antenatal booking, and addressing harmful social and cultural traditions—including child marriage, adolescent pregnancies and female genital mutilation—that contribute to the persistence of obstetric fistula.

Together, we remain dedicated to building a future where every woman and girl in The Gambia can experience safe motherhood, free from the pain and stigma of obstetric fistula.
