Commemoration: Breast and Prostate Cancer Awareness Months (1 September – 31 October 2025)

Amplifying messages and services to prevent breast and prostate cancer

To mark this year’s event, we raised awareness about the importance of regular breast and prostate cancer screening for early detection and effective treatment, while also providing these vital screening services.

Information, education and Communication (IEC) materials

To support our breast and prostate cancer campaign during September and October, we developed a range of branded IEC and promotional materials for display and dissemination. They include:

Event and pull-up banners
Online and window posters
Breast and prostate cancer awareness ribbons
Folders
Take-away USB chips for patients’ screening results
Fliers and brochures
T-shirts
Facility-wide decorations

Together, these materials reinforced our awareness efforts, encouraged participation and ensured key messages on prevention, screening and early detection reached a wide audience.

Outpatient (OPD) health talks and education

To ensure our patients and visitors were consistently exposed to vital health messages, education videos on breast and prostate cancer were broadcasted successively in English, Wollof and Mandinka across TV monitors in all OPD waiting rooms, wards and private rooms.

In addition, bi-weekly health talks were conducted in OPD waiting areas by doctors and trained staff, providing our patients and visitors with practical knowledge, guidance and opportunities to ask questions about these diseases.

Screening services

Our screening services are designed to support early detection and prevention of cancer, delivered with expertise and compassion. During the campaign, we provided the following:

Breast Cancer Screening

Mammography performed by Specialist Consultants and skilled technicians
Information and counselling provided to patients, including demonstrations for women on how to perform effective self-breast examinations

Prostate Cancer Screening

Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test performed by skilled lab technicians
Digital Rectal Examination (DRE) conducted by experienced specialists

Ultrasound Scanning

Available to both men and women for diagnostic and preventive care

Beyond screening, our experienced and dedicated staff provide counselling, education and diverse support to individuals affected by cancer and their families, ensuring compassionate care.
